Qvanasheni Marani

This 2022 Mtsvane is grown on the slightly sloped hills of the village of Manavi in Kakheti, Georgia, at about 650m elevation. The grape vines are grown organically and are 8-10 years young. The cuvee includes Mtsvane grapes that spent 10-12 days on skins carbonically and 15% directly pressed Rkatsiteli grapes. The wine was aged for 6 months in a combination of Qvevri (clay amphora) and stainless. On the first tasting, I found it had tight tannins that gave way to chamomile, apricot pit and tea. The body seemed oily and textural with a long finish. Pretty classic Mtsvane taste with a bouquet nose of honeysuckle to start and a show that goes on, just like an Everlasting Gobstopper :)
